Paul Enger, Playwright
September 10, 1927 ‐ November 29, 2013
Paul Enger began his career as a newspaper reporter for UPI before
joining CBS News as a staff writer. Dururing his career as a
journalist, Paul wrote for all the major news and public affairs
programs on CBS, as well as for ABC-TV's Good Morning, America and its
daytime serial All My Children. Paul also wrote scripts for A&E Cable
and The History Channel. Paul received three awards from the Writers
Guild of America for broadcast scripts in news and public affairs, and
was the recipient of the International Radio New York Festival Gold
Award for a script he wrote for Walter Cronkite's 20th Century. Paul
Enger was the author of nine full-length plays. His plays were
produced Off Broadway and at regional theatres. Stageplays presented
the world premiere production of In The Air, Paul's two-act drama set
during the Great Flu Epidenic of 1918. Paul was a graduate of the
University of Minnesota, and was a member of The Writers Guild of
America-East, President of the Horizons for Unlimited Growth (H.U.G.)
Foundation, and served on the Council of the Episcopal Actors Guild.
Paul Enger joined the Stageplays Board of Directors in 2008, and
served on the Board until his death in 2013.
