In The Air is a delicate and heartbreaking
story about two sisters and a pioneering aviator who confront
love, new frontiers, and the ravages to their community
by the Great Flu Epidemic of 1918. Through its theme, the
play serves as metaphor to the devastating effects on our
young by the unknown and incurable diseases of our own time.
In The Air is filled with love and yearning. It speaks of
a time when first and second generation Norwegian immigrants
were settling the Midwest and Northern regions of our country,
and young men were going off to fight a just and honorable
war in defense of the ideals upon which our country is based.
